Effective and eco-friendly oven cleaning tips for a spotless kitchen

An oven is an essential appliance in every kitchen. Unfortunately, delicious dishes often leave behind hard-to-remove residues. Is it possible to clean your oven effectively without using strong chemicals and strenuous scrubbing? Absolutely! Here are proven methods to remove burnt-on residues and grime in a way that is friendly to both the environment and your wallet.

Eco friendly oven cleaning

Our tips may not make your dishes look better, but they will certainly keep your oven clean and encourage you to use it more often, ensuring that every culinary endeavor is met with a sparkling cooking environment. All the necessary ingredients for a pristine oven can be found right at home: salt, baking powder, and lemon, making it not only effective but also budget-friendly and environmentally conscious.

Cleaning the Oven with Baking Powder

Baking powder is an excellent, eco-friendly cleaning agent. To clean your oven, prepare a paste using one packet of baking powder and three tablespoons of water. Apply this paste to the dirty spots in the oven. After about 30 minutes, the burnt residues will start to come off easily. The bicarbonate of soda in the baking powder reacts with water to create a foam that dissolves stubborn grime. Then, simply wipe the oven with a damp cloth to remove the dissolved residues.

Salt – A Natural Cleaning Agent

If you are still wondering how to clean your oven, try the salt method. First, lightly dampen the bottom of the oven with water, then sprinkle a layer of salt to cover all dirty areas. Heat the oven to 50°C and wait until the salt turns slightly brown. Under the heat, the salt loses moisture and dissolves the burnt food residues. After cleaning, just sweep out the salt along with the dirt and wipe the oven with a damp cloth. This method is also effective for cleaning baking trays!

Lemon juice trick

Lemon is an incredibly handy fruit in household chores - the acidity in its juice effectively removes stains, leaving a fresh scent behind (also discover our methods for eliminating unpleasant oven odors). How does it work? Slice the lemon and place it in a water-filled, heatproof container (such as a cake pan). Heat the mixture in the oven to 120°C. The steaming lemon bath dissolves all dirt and burnt residues. Then simply wipe them away with a damp cloth (this method works wonders for microwaves as well. In this case too, lemon vapors enable quick and easy removal of burnt and dried stains).

By using these methods, you will not only effectively clean your oven but also take care of the environment and save money. Regularly cleaning your oven with homemade solutions will make each subsequent cleaning simpler and less time-consuming. This eco-friendly approach not only maintains a spotless kitchen but also reduces the carbon footprint associated with harsh chemical cleaners. Now, you can enjoy a clean oven without the need for strong chemicals, promoting a healthier home environment for you and your family.
